More Details Emerge  on Robbers Who Gunned Down Security Guard, Stole Shs28M in Kiwatule

Police have provided more details on the incident in which robbers gunned down a security guard in Kiwatule on Monday evening.

According to Kampala Metropolitan deputy police spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigyire,  the incident  happened at about 7:45 pm at Kyolina Kyekikweyimilira Company, Central Zone, Kiwatule Parish, Nakawa Division, Kampala District.

“It is alleged that four armed robbers, riding on two motorcycles and armed with three guns, dressed in reflectors, stormed the premises and shot dead a private security guard, later identified as Asuman Damba Asuman an employee of Tactical Security Company,”Owoyesigyire said on Tuesday morning.

“The assailants then gained entry into the premises and robbed cash amounting to shs28 million  before fleeing towards the Kiwatule–Naalya direction.”

He said efforts by residents to intervene by throwing stones at the assailants were met with fire as they shot in the air to deter any pursuit.

Owoyesigyire said Police officers from Kira Road Police Division, together with other senior officers, visited and secured the scene.

“ A case was registered at Kiwatule Police Station vide CRB 005/2026. The Scene of Crime Officers (SOCO) documented the scene, statements from relevant witnesses were recorded, and CCTV footage was reviewed and secured for further analysis. The SAR rifle of the deceased and one live AK-47 round were recovered as exhibits. The body of the deceased was conveyed to KCCA City Mortuary for post-mortem examination.”

He said investigations into the murder and robbery are ongoing, and efforts to identify, trace, and arrest the suspects are underway, urging the public to remain calm and to share any information that may aid investigations with the nearest police station.

The incident is one of the isolated ones in recent months after security previously dismantled gangs involved in such crimes.
